2020 VDF 'Coqueyron Haut' MagnumRegular price $171.00
Zero SO2. Only 24 magnums in Australia.
First in first served.
Medium red/purple colour – lighter than expected, but has dark red rose tinges. Perfume is very aromatic, and starts with dark roses. Seems elegant, but also has dark powerful undertones. Bay, savoury aspects, roses, stems, campari, iron, black rock vein, and strawberry elixir magic. It's complex, and a pleasure to smell. Dusty spice and chocolate at the back. Everything is powdery on the nose. More rose lift through the nose, with a scattering of red fruits.
Brothers Charles and Guillaume Soulier, farm 10ha of vineyards around the tiny village of Saint-Hilaire-d’Olizhan. The village sits in the Gard department in Southern France, about half an hour west of Avignon. They took the reins from their father in 2014, and made their first wine in 2015. They farm mainly Grenache, Syrah and some Carignan, but have also planted forgotten local varieties such as Counoise, Terret Noir and Picardin.
